INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
'THE FACE OF CULTURE'
RULES AND REGULATIONS
I. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1. The International photography contest 'The Face of Culture' is organized by Vilnius Service Business Vocational Training Centre / hereafter - Centre /, Didlaukio st. 84, LT-08303, tel. 8 5 277 9357, email address: rastine@vpvpmc.lt.
1.2. Rules and Regulations of The International photography Contest 'The Face of Culture' / hereafter – Contest / determine the aim, objectives, participants, entry period, requirements, judging criteria, awards and submission guidelines.
1.3. Information about the Contest is published on www.vpvpmc.lt and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/vpvpmc.lt.
II. CONTEST AIM AND OBJECTIVES
2. 1. The aim of the contest is to identify and to cherish the creativity and cultural activities of the people living in your country through photography. Photo subjects are people directly linked to activities they are valued for in their city, town, or village*.
2.2. Objectives:
2.3. To identify local culture cultivators.
2.4. To choose a suitable photo technique.
2.5. To take a portrait of a person.
2.6. To select photographs that meet contest criteria; to submit the selected photographs prior to the deadline via email provided.
2.7. To encourage students to embrace technology in order to boost their creative expression.
III. PARTICIPANTS
3. Participants of the contest are persons attending photography courses/programs (non-formal photography studies) and those studying photography at vocational education centres as their main subject/profession (formal photography studies**). They will be divided into the following categories:
Non-formal photography education:
3.1. Persons under the age of 18.
3.2. Persons above the age of 18.
Vocational/formal education:
3.3. Persons studying photography curriculum at vocational education centres and are between the ages of 14 and 18 years.
3.4. Persons studying photography curriculum at vocational education centres and are between the ages of 18 and 25 years.
3.5. Persons studying photography curriculum at vocational education centres and are over the age of 25.
3.6. Photography curriculum graduates (already completed vocational studies).
IV. ENTRY PERIOD
4.1. The Contest runs from the 20th of September until the 20th of November 2021.
4.2. Registration is open until the 20th of September 2021.
4.3. Submit your Form of participation to indre.voicechoviciene@vpvpmc.lt via email with the subject 'The Face of Culture'.
V. ENTRY AND REQUIREMENTS
5.1. Photography genre is a portrait.
5.2. Participants shall accompany their photos with short captions of the photo in English describing the person photographed, his/her story and their significance in a cultural field.
5.3. Photographs can be taken by either digital or analogue technology.
5.4. Each participant can submit 1-5 photographs.
5.5. Photographs must reflect the daily routine, activities and surroundings of a person photographed.
5.6. Photographs can be taken in an environment which is natural to a person photographed; using either natural or artificial light.
5.7. Photographs must be taken after the competition opening date which is 20th of September 2021.
5.8. Digital photos shall fulfil the following requirements: the file size must not exceed 25 MB, format - JPG (JPEG), resolution - no less than 300ppi, the longer edge - no less than 3500 pixels. Photographs taken with analogue cameras must be submitted as scanned files (the file size requirements are the same as of digital photographs).
5.9. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as quarantine, the event will be held online.
VI. JUDGING CRITERIA AND AWARDS
6.1. Submitted photographs will be evaluated by a Jury consisting of an academic, a member of the Photographers’ Union, and a professional working within the field of applied photography. The Jury will be selected by the Centre.
6.2. The best 30-50 photographs will be published at Centre’s website, www.vpvpmc.lt and Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/vpvpmc.lt.
6.3 The best 25 photographs will be printed and exhibited at the art galleries across Vilnius.
6.4. The Contest Jury will announce 15 nominees in 6 categories (see section III).
6.5. Photographs that do not comply with the Contest criteria will not be evaluated.
6.6. Judging Criteria:
6.6.1. Technical quality of the photographs.
6.6.2. Choice and use of appropriate light and composition.
6.6 3. Compliance with the contest theme.
VII. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
7.1. Author (tenderer) has to complete the Participation form (Annex 1) and sign an Agreement regarding submitted photographs publicity (Annex 2).
7.2. Photographs must be sent via email to indre.voicechoviciene@vpvpmc.lt .
7.3. All participants and assisting teachers will be presented with Certificates of appreciation.
7.4. Diploma and prize will be awarded to I, II and III place winners. Awards will be presented in person or posted.
7.5. The winners will be announced on the 16th of December 2021 on the website www.vpvpmc.lt. Contest winners will be contacted directly via email.
VIII. FINAL REGULATIONS
8.1. The organizer reserves the right to display photographs in exhibitions, use in publications or any other way (indicating the name of the author) free of charge.
8.2. Contest participants must confirm that submitted artwork complies with the copyrights and other public information requirements defined by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania.
8.3. The person / model being photographed signs a consent agreement that allows their image to be displayed to the public.**
8.4. Contest participants give permission to the organizer to use personal data provided by the participant for the purposes of the Contest, such as, name, surname and age. Personal data provided will be processed in accordance to the legal acts approved by the Republic of Lithuania.

* The subjects of the photography Contest are representatives of the following professions: folk artists, athletes, artists of various fields, museologists, representatives of art education.
